We don’t have any set restrictions on which floors we would deliver to but the final decision will be at our driver’s discretion. Please do provide any information you think would be useful to know ahead of arranging this.

Donations & Collections

Thanks so much. If your item is small, you can pop into our Wee Shop on George Street and hand it in there, or alternatively the Big Warehouse. All donations are subject to suitability and accepted at the discretion of our staff.

If it’s a larger item (white good or furniture) you can take advantage of our free collection service by visiting our collection page and booking a collection slot.

We do accept the following items:
- furniture in good condition
- white goods and small electricals in working condition
- bric-a-brac
- glass items or mirrors
- lamps
- new underwear, although we would suggest donating underwear to Smalls For Alls which is another Scottish charity doing great work: https://www.smallsforall.org/
- we can accept plants but definitely not animals!

We do not accept the following items:
- wall units
- flat pack furniture
- kitchen cabinets
- taxidermy
- sex toys

Note: Fire labels are required on all sofas and mattresses.

If you’re not sure you can see examples of products on our website

As always, the final decision of what we accept will be made by the Home Aid shop team or drivers.

Please don’t leave items outside. There’s potential that these will be damaged and any collections are very much at our drivers’ discretion. If we are unable to accept an item you would then be responsible for moving it back inside.

No. For small items (books, DVDs, Bric-A-Brac, an individual item of clothing), please donate them directly to our Wee Shop on George Street, Bathgate.

All items must be in a good usable condition by someone else. If you wouldn’t be happy with it then it’s unlikely someone else will be.

Small electricals and white goods should be in decent working order and preferably cleaned prior to collection.

Mattresses and sofas must be stain free. If you’re unsure, please do ask a member of staff when you’re booking a collection. You can also upload photos of your item when booking a collection.

Note: All collections will be accepted at the discretion of our drivers and their decision will be final.

Please always prepare your item for collection in time for our drivers to arrive. This means removing any unnecessary items - washing from a washing machine, food from an oven and any clutter.

White goods should be switched off and disconnected and please don’t use these on the day of collection.

Beds should be dismantled and ready for collection. Ironmongery/headboards should be removed and any screws placed in a bag for collection.

Please also clear any exit routes in preparation for our drivers to allow them to easily move items you are donating. Removing any trip hazards and even pictures from a wall if you think they might get in the way.

We don’t offer a full house clearance service however we would be happy to take some items following an inspection. Please contact us directly to discuss this further.

Collections are for arranged items only and we won’t accept additional items unless they have been booked in.

We collect and deliver between 9am - 4pm, Monday - Friday.

Please call as at 01506 652 230 and hopefully we can come to an arrangement with you.

Returns

Yes, if it is faulty you can return an item within 28 days of purchase. Unfortunately if you have simply changed your mind about the item, we cannot accept a return. Please refer to our Returns Policy.

Unfortunately not. It is the customer’s responsibility to ensure any items purchased from us fit the space intended, therefore we are not able to accept a return on this basis.

If you personally or a member of your household installed the item, then you will also have to uninstall the item before arrival of the collection team. Otherwise, we will uninstall the item on arrival before removal.

We won’t be able to refund delivery or installation costs if you choose to return an item.

Installation

Yes we will charge an additional fee to have white goods installed. Please contact us on 01506 652 230 to arrange this.

As with any larger item, we might need to dismantle a bed in order to be able to deliver it. If you would also like us to assemble it when we deliver it there will be an additional charge for this. Please contact us on 01506 652 230 directly to arrange this.

General

We are based in Bathgate, West Lothian at two locations: our Big Warehouse on Gideon Street and our Wee Shop on George Street.

Home Aid sell a selection of larger items of second-hand furniture (such as dining room tables, coffee tables, beds, sofas, cupboards, drawers),  ex-display and second-hand white goods as well as bric-a-brac, books, DVDs, clothes and other smaller items.

Although we mainly sell second-hand items, many of our white goods are ex-display and a great way to grab a bargain.

Pigeons know a good place to setup a home when they see one, so make a very fitting set of mascots.
